Recommended Articles on Keeping Your Brain Healthy At Any Age
Projections from healthcare institutes estimate that over 10 million people in the U.S. and over 76 million worldwide will suffer from dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or stroke in 2030. And the American Heart Association and Stroke Association predict that over 60% of Americans will develop a brain disease in their lifetimes.
This does not need to happen to you or your loved ones. Scientists continue to release new studies showing that brain health has more to do with lifestyle choices than genetics. That is great news. As one article I read last month was headlined, “Dementia Is More Preventable Than We Thought.”
Many of the articles this past month focused on the lifestyle habits (food, nutrition, exercise, breathwork, etc.) that can have major impacts on your brain health, cognitive abilities, decision making, and memory. Several articles also shared highlights from a recent scientific study showing direct negative links between obesity and cognitive functioning. For me, the most interesting articles last month were:
Your Stress Is Killing Your Body and Brain and Taking Years Off Your Life
Exercising in Nature Produces Psychological Benefits and Measurable Changes in Brain Activity
12 Nutrient-Rich Foods for a Healthier Brain and Stronger Memory
Why Women Are More Likely to Have Dementia than Men as They Age
Obese Individuals Have Reduced Grey Matter Density and Functional Brain Abnormalities

It was an honor to be named one of the Top 200 Biggest Voices on Leadership at the end of January by the LeadersHum network. And to make it into the Top 100 was even more exciting!
To be included on a list with the likes of Marshall Goldsmith, Simon Sinek, Whitney Johnson, Gary Vaynerchuk, Sofia Esteves, John Kotter, Adam Grant, Alisa Cohn, and so many others whose thinking I have admired over the years is both ecstatic and humbling.

Gold Medal Award
Humony Leadership received a Gold Medal recognition from the Nonfiction Authors Association last month. The NFAA called the book, “thorough and inclusive. To say that Humony Leadership is timely is an understatement. The content is valuable, necessary and, if implemented, would go a long way towards recovery from havoc wreaked upon the world in very recent times.”
They went on to add, “Humony Leadership is a significant work with an important mission.”
