Book details the many benefits that mindfulness brings to decision-making, thinking capabilities, and brain health.
My book Better Decisions Better Thinking Better Outcomes has received a Silver Award from the Nonfiction Authors Association (NFAA) for bringing, “a comprehensive plan of action for improving life through recognizing decision-making patterns that don’t serve us well, don’t enrich our lives, and don’t bring us to our goals and dreams.”
For me, this is definitely an honor to be recognized by my nonfiction writing peers. I wrote this book as a siren call to leaders that their overloaded, fatigued, and stressed brains are causing them to make less-then-optimal decisions. It is extremely gratifying that the Nonfiction Authors Association has recognized the worthiness of this message. This is my fourth book industry award (Leadership Lessons from the Volkswagen Saga earned the first three).
In recognizing Better Decisions Better Thinking Better Outcomes, the NFAA stated that, “Steven Howard brings us a book that makes us think.” It also added that if readers “take the time to practice better decision-making and better thinking, a better life could be the best outcome of all.”
In this book, I highlight that, unlike physical health, people rarely consider or think about what they could or should be doing for the health of their brains. To help overcome this, the book provides a range of proven practices to help readers regain control of their decision-making processes and prevent the emotional hijackings that lead to regrettable decisions, comments, and actions.
Stress and our overloaded brains are two of the underlying causes creating conflict, tension, and drama in the workplace. The tendency is to react to situations, events, and people abruptly and emotionally. This book teaches people how to pause and respond, instead of reacting, and thus make better decisions and produce more desirable outcomes. This is why our emergency personnel are called First Responders, not First Reactors. If they reacted — instead of responding — in emergency situations the results would be dreadful.
Better Decisions. Better Thinking. Better Outcomes is available through Amazon in both paperback and Kindle formats. While aimed at leaders and decision-makers, the tips and techniques in Better Decisions. Better Thinking. Better Outcomes can be used by anyone to reduce stress and improve the overall long-term health of their brains.
