Together We Can Slow The Increase of Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Stroke
Please join me on a mission to reduce the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, and stroke.
Current projections call for a 60% increase in Alzheimer’s, dementia, and stroke by 2030. So in 12 years over 10 million people in the U.S. — and over 76 million worldwide — will be struggling with these mental wellness issues.
The financial and emotional costs to families and care givers, especially adult children with aging parents, is humungous. 10% of adults aged 60-69 whose parents are alive already serve as parental caregivers, as do 12% of adults 70+.
There is no excuse for allowing a 60% increase in the number of people suffering from dementia. Especially when this is postponable — perhaps even preventable —through a handful of common sense steps, as outlined in my new book Better Decisions. Better Thinking. Better Outcomes:
- Reduce stress
- Stop multitasking
- Increase physical activity
- Better diet
- Lose weight
- Sufficient sleep
The time to take brain health action is now. Alzheimer’s related brain changes start in our 30s and 40s. It is little wonder that the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association estimate that 60% of Americans will develop a brain health issue in their lifetimes. Again, this is postponable, and perhaps even preventable for a majority of us. But only if you start to implement brain health strategies today.
While written with leaders in mind, the tips and techniques in the book will help anyone make better decisions, improve cognitive thinking, create better outcomes, and understand the importance of building and maintaining long-term brain health.
